Taste the Rainbow, But Please Don’t Lick the Art–3 June 2026

Let’s savor Skittles (provided by Gentrain Society Vice President Becky Taylor) and learn about ART! Join us on June 3rd to meet Melissa Shields Bispo, a Studio Arts MPC faculty member. She is a Monterey native and an active member of the Monterey Peninsula Art Forum on Cannery Row.

Melissa studied art at the California College of Arts and Crafts (B.F.A.) and earned her M.F.A at San Jose State. Her focus was glass and installation art.

Heather Crowley joined MPC’s History Department in 2025, where she teaches a variety of classes on American and European history. She holds a Ph.D. in History from Cardiff University (UK) and an M.A. in History in Art from the University of Victoria (Canada), where she also completed her undergraduate studies. Her research focuses on the twelfth- and thirteenth-century Eastern Mediterranean, examining the crusader states and nearby Muslim polities. She is excited to join Gentrain as its director in 2026 and looks forward to the future of the program.
