Join the Gentrain Society and Dr. Alan Haffa, Director of Gentrain, as we visit Ashland, Oregon, for the annual Shakespeare Festival, July 7 through 12, 2025.
We will be seeing six plays: Jitney, August Wilson’s story set in 1977, when an unlicensed taxi service takes to the streets of Pittsburgh, The Importance of Being Earnest, Oscar Wilde’s classic comedy of manners, set in the British Malay Peninsula, Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, featuring a female and non-binary cast, as well as his All’s Well that Ends Well, love and hijinks in the forest, Quixote Nuevo, about a professor who doesn’t want to go into assisted living, and finally, Into the Woods, the “smash hit musical.”
As we are housed at the local university, we are required to affirm that we are a student group, and you will need to attend a two-session overview and analysis of the plays which will be led by Dr. Haffa in the two weeks before the trip. We will have daily discussions of the plays while we are in Ashland, which many of us consider to be an invaluable adjunct to the experience.
Dormitory suites can accommodate one or two people and have private bathrooms, and usually a mini fridge, and microwave oven.
Costs include: Transportation from and back to MPC as well as within Ashland, six nights lodging, tickets to six plays, and all gratuities. Meals are not included.
Costs for this year’s trip are as follows PER PERSON:
