Aquaculture to the Rescue
Aquaculture is increasingly being used for conservation purposes throughout California and beyond. Once only considered for food production, aquaculture is now recognized as a viable method to restore threatened species and ecosystems. Among the variety of conservation efforts to restore Elkhorn Slough, aquaculture has been used since 2018 to aid the imperiled Olympia oyster population.
