Ava Homa, the first Kurdish woman to publish a novel in English, has received critical acclaim for her powerful fiction and essays. Born during the Iran-Iraq War and raised under gender apartheid, Ava’s journey has been one of resilience and achievement. She secured a scholarship to pursue her master’s degree in Creative Writing in Canada. In this talk, Ava will share the path that led to writing her award-winning novel, Daughters of Smoke and Fire, and explore literature as a pathway to global understanding.
