GENT 405, 5 and 22: The Medieval World, Part I
This course explores the period sometimes called “the first Renaissance”: the Christian age of Europe both in the West and East – the age of Thomas Aquinas, cathedrals, the Crusades, courtly love, and Dante and the Islamic Renaissance. It is also an age of economic recovery, urban expansion, and the establishment of universities.
